Frequently Asked Questions
Does this drone require a smartphone to operate?
Yes, the included remote controller connects directly to your Android or iOS device. By downloading the free DJI Fly app, you gain a real-time high-definition view from the drone’s camera alongside easy-to-use flight options and tutorials.

Do I need a special license or registration for the Mini 5 SE in South Africa?
No. Because it weighs under 249 grams, it is fully classified as a recreational toy under SACAA regulations. You do not need a Remote Pilot Licence (RPL) or formal drone registration for private, hobbyist flying.

What happens if the battery runs low while it is far away?
The drone features an automated Smart Return-to-Home (RTH) protocol. If the battery drops too low or the controller loses signal connection, the drone automatically climbs to a safe altitude and flies straight back to its original takeoff spot.
